McIver Furman

Dr. McIver Furman became the South Texas Council’s first Eagle Scout in 1920—and his legacy of leadership lives on. A devoted physician and civic leader, he helped found Driscoll Children’s Hospital and served as mayor of Corpus Christi, championing parks, the arts, and youth development throughout the city.

The McIver Furman Societies honor his enduring impact by uniting a community of visionary donors committed to securing the future of Scouting in South Texas. Through their support, Furman’s lifelong commitment to service continues to shape young leaders and strengthen communities across the region.
